Best Time to Visit

The best time to visit Provence is either April to May or September to October when the weather is pleasant and the tourist crowds have largely died down. Having said that, if you wish to witness the picturesque lavender fields in full bloom, you should plan a trip between mid-June and the start of August, with the peak bloom period around mid-July. The summertime is perfect for visiting the Côte d'Azur, with abundant Mediterranean sunshine and ideal conditions for beach activities. However, during the summer months, beaches are crowded, and snagging beach chairs and dinner reservations become more challenging. Therefore, the best time to visit the French Riviera is during May and September when there are fewer visitors, the weather is still mild and pleasant, and prices may be more reasonable. For winter sports enthusiasts, the best time to visit the French Alps is from December to March when the ski resorts are open. For those who enjoy extreme sports like hiking and trekking, the French Alps are best explored between June and September, as there are still avalanche risks before then.
